Basically computer memory refers to primary memory or main memory.Because this memory is directly in established in CPU.The primary memory is of two types i.e. ;1.volatile memory.
2.Non-volatile memory.
The primary memory has different limitations,so secondary memory is established,which is also called as auxilary memory and is used for permanent purpose.
RAM is a volatile memory.That means it accquires the data and information untill the power is ON.If the power is off then the data will be lost .
The primary memory of computer is commonly refers to RAM ,because the computer can select the data rendomly. Generally this memory consist of some integrated circuit chips,either on mother board or attached to integrated board.
SIMMS:-Single inline memory modulus.
It means the extranal RAM which is plugged in to the socket for additional purpose ...

Data stored in the ROM is permanent.i.e. if we want to store the data as permanent manner then we use ROM.
IT is also refers as internal memory.
e.g.,In our smart mobile the internal storage is nothing but the ROM chip set.
The data stored in ROM chip by using the fuse link and the process is called as BORNING DATA.
